Looking for new winter hiking boots and have narrowed it down to the ROCLite Max Mid GTX (black) and Pro Mid GTX (blue). I love my Inov8 gym shoes but haven't tried their hiking boots. From what I understand, the Max is firm but more agile, while the Pro is stiffer and more stable. I'll be using them for winter mountain hikes, occasional scrambling, and multi-day backpacking trips with microspikes and snowshoes. My concern is whether the Max would provide enough stability on loose rocks and technical terrain, or if the Pro would be too stiff and uncomfortable for longer hikes. Anyone have experience with either, particularly in winter conditions?

是的，不过我没能穿着它们去徒步，因为不幸的是脚踝前部有个热点。如果它们只是一双鞋，我会毫不犹豫地留下。它们非常合我的脚。我脚跟小、前掌宽，在这方面觉得很合脚。因此我对他们的越野鞋很好奇，因为这次合脚的情况。我要说一定要买大一号。这是普遍的建议，而且这种建议通常对我不起作用，因为我正好在女款 7.5 - 8 之间，但更接近 8，所以 8 码往往正好合脚，只有一点点空间。我买了 9 码，这是正确的选择。所以尽管买大一号。

Yes, I did not get the chance to hike in them however because there was a hot spot in the front of the ankle unfortunately. If they had been just a shoe I would have kept it in a heart beat. They fit my feet really nicely. I have a smaller heal and larger forefoot and felt they fit great in that regard. I'm curious about their trail shoes consequently due to how this fit. I will say definitely size up. That was the recommendation across the board and often that advice does not work for me as I'm really between a women's 7.5 - 8 but closer to 8 so the 8's tend to fit correctly with a small amount of space. I got these in a 9 and it was the right call. So go ahead a size up.

That’s good to know, I wish was able to try them on before purchasing. I also was wondering about their trail shoes, would like to give them a try when my Saucony’s wear out. Would you recommend any other boot?

So I wear Saucony Ride 14s best shoe I've ever had for running and I've been searching for something to handle backpacking/hiking. I will wear the running shoes if I must but I'd prefer a trail shoe and so far I've had no luck. I live in a remote area so that means I've tried about 4-6 styles and sent them all back. I did go into a local place and try the Salomon, Hoka, Altra Lone Peaks (a bit too wide in the heal and zero drop won't work for my achilles on extended or steep inclines). I also tried Scarpa Women's Rush TRK GTX and wow they felt great in the heal and ankle but the toe box hit me weird and it was really more boot than I need since I'm not really going into the alpine region on most hikes. If I do I'll reconsider. I've been curious about Lowa as well. I've really had no luck finding a trail shoe that feels great and that would give me a bit of room for my feet to increase in size on hikes that go more than 4 days. I've got a trip to Patagonia late in 2027 so I've been trying to nail down a good hiking shoe that is maybe more durable than a trail shoe. Oddly I encountered the Nortiv 8 hiking shoe on Amazon for like 60 bucks and so far it seems like it might work. It won't last as long but it's a cheap buy for trial and error. It wasn't super heavy either.

I've always loved Merrills. They hug your feet when going down inclines so you toes don't jam into the front of the shoes. They've always lasted me years too.
