Has anyone compared Polartec Alpha Direct with PrimaLoft fleece for backpacking? I’m looking for a lightweight midlayer and considering Alpha Direct 90/120 gsm vs the Salomon Thernova PrimaLoft fleece. Main priorities are breathability, warmth-to-weight, packability, and durability. For anyone who’s used both: how do they compare for warmth and breathability? Is Alpha noticeably better while hiking, and is it durable enough under backpack straps? Would you go 90 or 120 gsm for 3-season mountain trips?

    Salomon 那件用的是 Primaloft active evolve，和 AD 挺像的。 不过 Salomon 有 300g，我觉得作为活动层穿会太热，除非是冰点以下。

    The Salomon is made with Primaloft active evolve, pretty similar to AD. The Salomon is 300g though, I think it will be too warm to be worn as an active layer unless it's freezing.

    Primaloft active evolve is pretty much the same thing as alpha. I have heard it’s slightly more durable than AD and the fact that bigger companies are using it seems to confirm that. I wouldn’t get the Salomon fleece though because it’s a very heavyweight version of the fabric. Roark and Backcountry both make Primaloft hoodies that are ~90 gsm. Of course, 60 or 90 gsm AD is a proven option as well. You can’t really go wrong with either.

    我一直在用 Senchi designs 60 连帽衫，刚买了他们的一款轻量羊毛混纺。我觉得 60 连帽衫作为基础层或中间层非常棒，但它很脆弱，容易破洞（比普通破洞更大），所以可能需要缝补维护。我刚收到那件更轻但看起来更耐用的 Senchi 上衣（意大利混纺再生聚酯和 Merino 羊毛（Turbo Sheep）），还没怎么实际使用，但看起来不错。

    I’ve been using Senchi designs 60 hoodie and I’ve just bought one of their lightweight wool blend. I find the 60 hoodie to be a fantastic base or mid layer but it’s fragile and holes (bigger ones than standard) can develop easily so sewing maintenance might be required. I have only just received the lighter but more durable looking Senchi top (Italian blend of recycled polyester and Merino wool (Turbo Sheep)) that I haven’t yet used in anger but it looks good.
