Hi, new to bags/backpack world. Recently got a 28l quiksilver backpack, it feels huge on me where I had been using a smaller 18l~20l sling bag before. I have a few questions regarding backpacks as I might consider getting another backpack. • Is 28l capacity considered large or just standard? • How is a "recycled polyester" material viewed in the backpack world? Is it cheap? Because the one I just got is made of that material and it feels stiff and rigid, though it seems waterproof and durable enough (I think) • What qualities or features should you look for in a backpack?     对，28L 对我来说是完美的万能尺寸。我用一个当 EDC，装我的东西绰绰有余，又不会感觉塞爆。这个尺寸也够出去住几晚（如果你打包比我轻，还能更久！） 爱好者的版块里有人会说当 EDC 太大了，但你得按自己觉得合适的来。我觉得日常生活中唯一算太大的场景，就是挤地铁的时候。

    Yeah 28l is the perfect versatile size for me. I use one as an EDC that has plenty of room for my stuff but doesn’t feel overpacked. And the size also works for a couple nights (or more if you pack lighter than I do!) People on the hobbyist subs will say it’s too big for EDC but you gotta do what feels right for you. I’d say the only scenario where it’s too big in everyday life is if you ride crowded subways

    28L 周末旅行很棒。当 EDC 有点大，除非你带很多装备或者需要放一双鞋的空间。 我觉得再生聚酯没问题。我看到精品品牌也在用，可能更多取决于制造工艺而不是材质本身。 对我来说，舒适度和符合我习惯的口袋布局最重要。可惜研究舒适度没什么好办法——太主观，也太取决于你的体型。 小细节方面，额外的提手。我的日常主力包有侧提手，比我想象的有用。我也很喜欢磁吸胸带扣。

    28L is great for a weekend trip. A little big for EDC unless you carry a lot of gear or need room for a pair of shoes. I think recycled polyester is fine. I see boutique brands use it, probably depends more on the manufacturing than the material itself. For me comfort and a pocket layout that fits my habits are the most important. Unfortunately there's not a great way to research comfort - it's too subjective and specific to your body shape. As for smaller things, extra grab handles. My daily driver has side handles and they're more useful than I expected. I also love a magnetic sternum strap closure.

    我觉得 28L 对大学生或者经常带大笔记本电脑上下班、还从家里带午饭的职业人士来说差不多正好。 如果你把它当手提包用，或者用于非技术性的单日徒步、跑步、山地骑行……就感觉有点大。还有（烦人的是！）放飞机前排座位底下也太大。当登机箱替代品放头顶行李架又太小。多日徒步算极小，技术性更强的户外日或者冬天算小（但大概能用）。 我对再生材料感情复杂。它们以可用形态存在的时间不一定长，但在垃圾填埋场里往往能撑惊人地久，而这正是回收的一半意义。 我想要什么样的背包，取决于我用它干什么。

    I think 28 L is about right for a college student or a professional who regularly takes a larger laptop to and from work, and also brings lunch from home. It feels a bit big if you're using it similar to a handbag, or for non-technical day hiking, running, mountain biking... Also (annoyingly!) big for putting under the seat in front of you on a plane. Small for use as a suitcase replacement that you put in the overhead compartment. Tiny for multi-day hiking, and small (but likely doable) for more technical outdoors days or winter. I have mixed feelings about recycled materials. They don't always last as long in usable form but they often last a shockingly long time in a landfill which is half the point of recycling. What I want in a backpack is driven by what I use it for.

    20L for Summer EDC for hydration, rain jacket or umbrella, snacks, etc 25-30 for Fall/Winter for hydration and layering for clothes, and EDC necessities I'd avoid these marketing "Quicksilver-slapped-labels" if your seriously getting into backpack. Start with REI the least, make your way into the Osprey, etc. Anything above 25lbs weights (not capacity) start looking into comfort features
