I'm thinking of getting a Garmin Inreach Mini 2. My hiking/backpacking schedule is chaotic and sometimes last minute. I hear that you can pause the subscription when you're not using it. Can someone explain that process? Is it an instant pause and instant track on start up? Is the subscription based on days used or time? Do you turn it off in between every trip or just when you know you're not going to use it for a full month? Trying to save money and am looking into the best way to do that.

    是按月计费的，当你暂停时，你仍然拥有你已付费的当月剩余时间，然后当你想再次使用时，你取消暂停，那就是你新的账单日期，直到你再次暂停。

    It's monthly, when you pause you still have the rest of the month that you paid for and then when you want to use it again you unpause and thats your new billing date until you pause again.

    Yup, that's the way it works - when you pause, you have already paid for that month so you are active till the next billing date. When you restart, it's active that day - that's the new billing date.

    I think that's the grandfathered plan, you can't suspend anymore, they changed it 2 or 3y ago. There's a $7 plan that is kinda not straight forward to get to that has no included message credits. The activation fee is about 40 or 50 i think

    If that change actually happened, it must have been sometime in the last 12 months. I bought mine exactly 1 year ago, used it for 1 trip, then suspended. I'm about to reactivate for this fall's trip.
