Hi ! I(22M) am planning a 2 weeks trip in Italy next month , i will fly in, and go from city to city by bus, sleeping in hostels. I will mainly do city visit and small hikes, staying on average 1 or 2 night in each place. So I would like to minimize what i carry and i would love to have advice on my packing list ! -Bags Mystery ranch gallagator 19L Uniqlo fanny pack -Clothing 3 merinos wool tee shirts + cargo pants 3 underwear 3 pair of socks 1 technical top layer 1 down jacket 1 pair of trail runner 1 hat 1 buff -Hygiene Toothbrush Toothpaste 1 Disposable razor 1 Bar of soap (body and laundry) 1 small bottle of shampooing Earplugs Basic medecine Small towel -Misc. 2 bottle of water .7L Wallet Phone + charger External battery + charger Dslr camera + charger (might be my biggest gear doubt) Notebook + pen 1 tote bag This include everything in my bag + on me I'd love to know what modification would you make to this, or if you have any experience with a similar pack ? Additional question : i'll be flying with ryanair, and I did book the 55x40x20 option so I think that i'll be fine, but do you think that i could take a similar packing configuration with the 40x30x20 which is included in the ticket price ? 我个人如果到处跑、坐巴士/火车的话，不会带单反。当然，这取决于你有多喜欢摄影。我认为现代手机已经足够强大了。我会带更多内裤。青年旅舍的洗衣和烘干有点碰运气，而且很快会变得很糟糕。我现在带7条，每周洗一次。7条和3条的空间和重量差异对我来说可以忽略不计。还有，2瓶0.7L的水？为什么不只带一瓶？

I personally wouldn’t bring a DSLR if I’m hopping around and by bus / train. Of course, depends how big of a photo buff you are. I think the modern phones are more than capable. I would bring more undies. Hostel washing & drying is a bit of a hit or miss, and can get nasty fast. I now bring 7 pairs, and do laundry once a week. The space and weight for 7 vs 3 is negligible for me. And also, 2 0.7L bottles? Why not just one?

意大利到处都是喷泉，除非你要在野外徒步，否则不需要超过一瓶水。我会带一瓶，如果某些天需要另一瓶，就在当地买瓶装水。这样可以节省一些空间。

Fountains are everywhere in Italy, you shouldn't need more than one bottle unless you'll be hiking in the wild. I'd take one and if you need another for some days, buy a bottled water there. That'll save you some space

Most likely because of the hiking. I generally carry more than 0.7L of water when I hike, if only out of an abundance of caution.

YO, YOU CAN'T FORGET YOUR PANTS!!!!!!!! here's my $0.02... .do you wear glasses or contacts? you'll need to account for that or maybe even sunglasses .keep an eye on size and wattage of external battery to comply with airline restrictions .if staying in hostels, i would bring flip-flops or slippers .similarly, maybe even a lock, but a lock can be bought on-site as needed .are you wearing the fanny pack when boarding flights, or packing? not sure if it will be seen as a second bag .hygiene - if you're ok with it, maybe consider a 2-in-1 bar for hair and body if it will save space. also, there are laundry detergent sheets that many people use and these deffo save space, but you should practice using a laundry sheet before you go. .since you are moving frequently, I would bring a wet bag since any laundered items might not dry in time for your next departure. even zip-loc bags can work. have a great trip! italy is amazing --- but deffo NO WHITE TOPS since marinara is a pain to remove lol

do you think that i could take a similar packing configuration ....40x30x20 ? Looking at your list (is this packed items only or packed + worn?), you would probably be OK. But you can check yourself by following the 'box test' guidance in the weekly bag finder megathread - below. If you're not sure how big a bag you need, create a packing list, get all your gear together and test fit it into a box, or an old backpack you have lying around. That'll give you a good sense of the volume of gear you have.

In that case, looks OK but since it's pretty quick and easy to personally check this, I recommend doing so. Pair of light gloves, not currently in the list, might also be useful.

你试过试打包吗？19升里装这么多东西，而且如果你有优先登机，似乎没必要这么小。我预计Galligator在那种负载下会严重变形。你的打包清单包括穿在身上的衣服吗？雨具呢？

Have you tried test packing? That’s a lot in a 19 liter and seems unnecessarily small if you have Priority Boarding. I would expect the Galligator to distort badly with that sort of load. Does your packing list include the clothes worn? Rain gear?
